We got so much snow over night that Scott’s office was closed and I had to cancel a scheduled canning class. We hunkered down for a snow day at home and I pulled out my two vintage sandwich makers. They are a little bit of a pain to clean, but make for a fun treat.
Sweet sandwich makers! But do you hold them over a gas burner…? How do they work? I’ve seen some similar to this that are cast iron and meant to be held in a campfire. We call them mountain pie makers 🙂
In my experience, the best way to use them on a gas stove is to turn on a low flame and them place the Toas-Tite on the burner the way you would any piece of cookware. You just want to stay close, to ensure that nothing burns.
